What is Hola?

Hola is building an overlay peer to peer network which will change the way the Internet works. Our ultimate goal is to make the Internet 10x faster! Hola accelerates the web using a combination of technologies - caching, multiple sources, compression, P2P protocols and more. Hola also creates a special local cache with the Hola client (your Android phone or Windows PC) so when you reload content (like a YouTube movie) it doesn't come from the web again, but from the local Hola cache. For initial Hola users, the Internet will be fast, but as more people install Hola, the web will get even faster. Faster browsing. Faster Video -- While the load on the core network will decrease. Another nice side effect of the Hola technology is that it provides various levels of anonymity, that ultimately will enable you to view any content from anywhere. This means that you can watch your local content even when travelling abroad. Currently Hola does this for a limited set of sites (see the Hola Unblocker for more information), with more coming every week. Hola is FREE, and we hope to always keep it that way.

Which operating systems does Hola run on?

Hola is available on the following platforms: A download for Windows (7, XP, Vista - Win8 coming soon) - for Internet acceleration and unblocking of sites An app for Android - for Internet acceleration ONLY. What will the Hola client do for me?

Once installing the Hola software on your PC, laptop or smart phone, you will enjoy faster Internet (on many sites, but not all as of the Beta), faster downloads, faster video load times, and less video buffering. You will also enjoy our "unblocking" feature that lets you see web sites that are otherwise blocked. On Windows you will also enjoy our connection manager, which will make finding and connecting to Wi-Fi easier.

Which operating systems does Hola work with?

Hola provides products for the following operating systems: Windows (7, XP, Vista): Hola Internet accelerator download for Windows (includes the Hola Unblocker) Windows 8: Hola Unblocker extension for Chrome and Firefox. Which browsers does Hola work with?

Hola works with the following browsers: On Windows (7, XP, Vista) or Android: Install Hola for Windows or Hola for Android. It includes the Accelerator and Unblocker and will work with ANY browser that you are using. Chrome: If you are not on Windows, you can install the Hola Unblocker extension for Chrome. It will provide you with the Unblocker functionality, but not with the Internet acceleration (available only on the Windows and Android clients). Firefox: If you are not on Windows, you can install the Hola Unblocker extnsion for Firefox from hola.org/firefox.html (install this version, not the one from the Firefox Add-on site). It will provide you with the Unblocker functionality, but not with the Internet acceleration (available only on the Windows and Android clients). Internet Explorer (IE), Safari, Opera, or other (i.e. anything other than Chrome or Firefox): These browsers are not supported with their own Hola extension. However, if you are on a Windows platform (7, XP, Vista) or Android then install Hola for Windows or Hola for Android. Includes the accelerator and Unblocker which you can use with these browsers.

Does Hola accelerate all web pages?

No. For security reasons, Hola won't speed up HTTPS pages (such as bank pages). Also, while Hola is still in Beta it does not speed up all HTTP pages - this depends on the number of Hola users in the region, and other factors. Expect improvement in the acceleration as the Beta progresses.

What is Hola's goal?

Our goal is to make the Internet much better for you -- faster, easier to connect to, more reliable, more available. Your Beta copy is our first step to make this happen. We plan to do this while keeping the product free for our users.

How is Hola free?

Hola is the only service of its type that is free because Hola's technology does not require us to have actual servers -- as more people join the network, they pool their resources to help each other to make a better Internet for all, and thus we have no additional costs per user. And that cost savings is translated in to a free product. We plan to make our money from premium services we will offer in the future
